P&C Report

Presidents Report 2019 – Kelly Jennings

We started the year off with a very flush amount of money in the account, due to the past P&C committees effort and hard work, which I thank everyone for.

With that being said, we were able to help the school purchase 25 new laptops, 5 interactive white boards, and support the reticulation on the oval with a new filter system in the first half of the year. Later in the year, we also donated another $24,000 to the school, to help fund more decodable readers, more trike riders for the junior school, and there were also another 38 laptops which needed to be upgraded by the end of the year. It is such a huge accomplishment that we, the P&C are able to help fund so many things that go back into the school to benefit our kids and their learning.

The Election was a great success with the sausage sizzle, 2nd hand book stall and cake stall. A new bbq was purchased for all our fund raising needs – which was funded by the P&C

Dad’s campout, put on term 1 is a great way to start the year off and get the dad’s to meet each other in a relaxed atmosphere – thank you for all involved with helping this run smoothly, and the mum’s that were there the next morning cooking the breakfast for all the dad’s and kids

The Robin Hood Verge Community Garden was opened on 20th June, with a visit from the Mayor to officially open the garden, a special thanks needs to go to Michelle Marshall and Miram Godwood for all their hard work.

The kids got involved with the Lions Cancer Council appeal and raised over $500 to help fund the Kids big day out with Crazy hair day at school

School disco is always a fun night for the kids, we had a bigger crowd than usual with over 200 kids booked to come, the canteen was a hit with the icy poles and cakes

Bogan Bingo, which was our big annual parent event, was a hit and I think the inner Bogan in all of us was nice to let out for the evening. With the classroom donations and all of our sponsors and local business donations we were able to raise over $8000 on the evening – thank you all for your support.

Lapthon was a huge success this year with raising over $10,000, which was great considering we had to move the date due to weather conditions. It was also good to see the kindy kids out there too, on the day.

Of course there are the other activities that run throughout the year that should not go unrecognized, such as school banking, canteen, scholastic books, faction t-shirts, entertainment book sales, and junior school tea towels (kindy & Pre-primary)

I would like to also acknowledge the donations from Bovells bakery for the buns for the dad’s camp out and Rotary club of Applecross for their funding for mathematics resources for the school

A huge Thank you must go out to Jackie, who has been a very important part of the P&C for many years heading up the fundraising… you have done such a wonderful job and you deserve to put your feet up during your kids last year at Mt Pleasant Primary.

In closing I would love to thank everyone who has attended P&C meetings and have helped contribute to such a wonderful school. We could not do what we manage without all of you volunteering, and thank you for making my first year as President such a joy.
